All incoming freshmen admitted to General Engineering in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University— regardless of AP credit, dual credit or any other credit you may have — must take the Math Placement Exam 4 (MPE4) in an online, proctored setting via Zoom prior to their New Student Conference. If you require testing accommodations, you must submit an accommodations request two weeks prior to your scheduled testing date.

Fall 2023 admits can select their Math Placement Exam date byregistering here.

Scores earned on the online proctored exam (offered by the College of Engineering and College of Arts and Sciences) are used to place general engineering students in the appropriate level math course (see course placement table below). To register for MATH 151 Engineering Mathematics I, the first required engineering math course, a student must earn an MPE4 score of 22 or greater. Students enrolled in Texas A&M Engineering at Blinn will take equivalent math courses through Blinn College.
